Towering at 4,200 m, Apharwat is the snowy summit reached by Phase II of the Gulmarg Gondola. Almost year-round white with snow, it is the heart of Gulmarg's skiing and snowboarding circuit and offers breathtaking views of the Line of Control, Nanga Parbat on a clear day, and the entire Kashmir valley laid out below.
The world's second-highest operating cable car, the Gulmarg Gondola whisks you from Gulmarg meadow (2,650 m) to Kongdoori (3,080 m) in Phase I, and on to the icy shoulders of Apharwat Peak (3,980 m) in Phase II. The 12-minute glide above pine forests and snowfields is itself one of the most unforgettable rides in the Himalayas.
Established by the British in 1904 and rebuilt as an 18-hole championship course, Gulmarg Golf Course at 2,650 m is the highest green in the world. Surrounded by deodars and snow-tipped peaks, it is open from April to November and remains one of the most scenic places to play golf anywhere on the planet.
